Etowah High School FFA Team Places Second at State Marketing Plan Competition
A team of Etowah High School FFA students recently won second place in the regional Marketing Plan Career Development Event (CDE) and now advance to the State competition on Feb. 9, 2013 at Ft. Valley State University. Team members are: Ruth Anderson, Destiny Gaffney and Samantha Potente. The team advisor is teacher Ashley Rivers.
“This is the first year we have attempted this competition, and the girls worked very hard,” Ms. Rivers said. “Competition in FFA Events is a lot tougher than other CTSOs (Career and Technical Student Organizations), and my students work very hard to prepare and compete against some of the brightest up-and-coming individuals from all over our region.”
Participants in the Marketing Plan CDE develop and present a marketing plan for a current agricultural product, supply or service. The purpose of CDEs is to connect students with what is taught in the classroom to practices utilized in the industry. Additionally, the competitions promote academic achievement and competence for students who seek a future in agriculture.
