Pamela McArthur Teems was among 18 career and technical educators honored by the Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education during its annual conference, which met July 9-13 at the Cobb Galleria Centre.
Nominated by their division peers and selected by an awards committee, each honoree was presented with a plaque naming him or her their division’s 2011 Teacher of the Year.
Teems teaches Family and Consumer Sciences at Etowah High School. An educator for more than 25 years, she is a graduate of Berry College and the University of Georgia. She serves as the vice president for the Georgia Association of Teachers for Family and Consumer Sciences on the GACTE State Board and as adviser to the Etowah Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.
A native of Cherokee County, Teems said she attributes her success in the field of Family and Consumer Sciences to her mentors from the Cherokee County School District: Jeanette Bagwell, Doris Yarbrough, Carolyn DeBord and Sue Anne Daves Fambrough.
