Johnston Elementary School recently recognized Kathy King as the school’s recipient of the 2011-12 Golden Apple Award presented by the Gamma Eta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.  This award recognizes exemplary educators in the Cherokee County School District.  The winners are chosen by their co-workers.  Currently, Mrs. King is an Early Intervention and English Language Learner teacher for Grades K-5.  She has worked at Johnston ES for 11 years.  Prior to Johnston ES, she taught in the School District at Boston ES and Hickory Flat ES.
