Acru Hosts PJ Party for Literacy

Here is the information you need to know Thursday, Oct. 6.

 

1. Today is going to be sunny with a high of 81 degrees and a low of 53, according to the National Weather Service.

2. The relocated Rope Mill Road opened Wednesday now providing a complete four-way signalized intersection with Ridgeway Parkway and Woodstock Parkway. The newly paved road feeds into Olde Road Mill Park with sidewalks lining both sides of the street.

3. Cherokee County schools are participating in Jumpstart's Read for the Record. Students will be wearing pajamas to school today in honor of this year's featured book, Llama Llama Red PajamaAcru is hosting a Mama Llama Red Pajama Party with the fire and police chiefs reading to the students. The party begins at 4 p.m. with singing, refreshments and a visit from Mama Llama. A $3 donation is suggested that will go to the Cherokee Co. Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy.

4. Main Street Woodstock will be holding a ribbon cutting for Southern Assurance Corporation at 4 p.m. The ceremony will be held at 2016 Bascomb Carmel Road.

5. Apple Co-Founder and Former CEO Steve Jobs died at 56 Wednesday afternoon. He died from pancreatic cancer and had a liver transplant in 2009. He stepped down as CEO in August to COO Tim Cook. Apple dedicated its homepage to Jobs with a simple black and white photo of him and a link to message from the company.
