Contests, Scholarships Available

Here is the information you need to know Wednesday, Nov. 30.

 

1. There is a slight chance of drizzle this morning, but the remainder of the day will be mostly cloudy and windy with a high of 51 and a low of 29 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

2. The Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority has announced two contests open to Cherokee County students. The photography contest asks students K through 12th grade to submit a photograph that depicts the answer to the question, “What inspires you to conserve and protect the water resources in your community?" The sticker design contest asks elementary students to submit a design that reflects a water quality/conservation theme. Both winning entries receive a $50 prize and prints of their submission. 3. See a slideshow of what students at Holdheide Academy have been up to lately. The students took on a challenge of building a tipi in two minutes after gathering the necessary supplies themselves.

4. Former University of Georgia coach and athletic director Vince Dooley will be at the Towne Lake Kroger from 4 to 6 p.m. to sign copies of his book, which will be available for $20 to $35.

5. The Goddard School's annual $10,000 Anthony A. Martino Memorial Scholarship is open for applications. The application deadline is Feb. 19 and is available online. Check the announcement for more details.
