A Cobb County grand jury has indicted a former sheriff's deputy from Douglasville on charges of rape, sexual assault against persons in custody, violation of oath by public officer, and other charges.

A 16-year-old Osborne High student allegedly threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend, her current boyfriend and himself, prompting school administrators to put the school on a heightened state of alert for about 45 minutes late Wednesday morning.

Atlanta Firefighters Rescue Residents from Burning Building - East Atlanta Patch
According to the Atlanta Fire Department, at around 1:30am Thursday morning the department responded to a fire call at 22 Jesse Hill Jr. Dr., where there were reports of flames coming out of a 4th floor window. The building, a former YMCA, is now a transitional housing facility, and was fully occupied at the time. Firefighters went through the building making sure everyone got out safely. Atlanta police say a Buckhead woman was kidnapped at gunpoint and forced to withdraw money from an ATM machine early Friday morning.
