Ex-Cobb Sheriff's Deputy Indicted on Rape, 20 Other Charges - Kennesaw Patch

A Cobb County grand jury has indicted a former sheriff's deputy from Douglasville on charges of rape, sexual assault against persons in custody, violation of oath by public officer, and other charges.

Student's Threatening Text Prompts Heightened Alert at Osborne High - Marietta Patch

A 16-year-old Osborne High student allegedly threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend, her current boyfriend and himself, prompting school administrators to put the school on a heightened state of alert for about 45 minutes late Wednesday morning.

The student spelled out the threat in a text to his ex-girlfriend's friend sometime Wednesday morning, Cobb County Police Department spokesman Officer Mike Bowman told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. For more on this story, visit Marietta Patch.

Atlanta Firefighters Rescue Residents from Burning Building - East Atlanta Patch

According to the Atlanta Fire Department, at around 1:30am Thursday morning the department responded to a fire call at 22 Jesse Hill Jr. Dr., where there were reports of flames coming out of a 4th floor window. The building, a former YMCA, is now a transitional housing facility, and was fully occupied at the time. Firefighters went through the building making sure everyone got out safely. Buckhead Woman Survives Friday Morning Kidnapping, Armed Robbery - Buckhead Patch

Atlanta police say a Buckhead woman was kidnapped at gunpoint and forced to withdraw money from an ATM machine early Friday morning.

Police say the incident happened around 2:10 a.m. Friday as the woman was returning home to her apartment in the 800 block of Lenox Oaks Circle. Three males with a gun forced her back into her car. For more on this story, visit Buckhead Patch.

New Spa to Open at Site of 2012 Shootings - Norcross Patch

Another Korean spa is moving into the old Su Jung Health Sauna location off Buford Highway, the same Norcross site where five people died in a murder-suicide last year.

After more than a year of being an empty storefront, the 6005 Buford Hwy. building will now hold Gangnam Sauna, which plans to open either in late March or early April, according to the business. For more on this story, visit Norcross Patch.
