1. Canton Mardi Gras

Where/When:  Cherokee Arts Center, Saturday at 7 p.m.

Why Go: Wear your mask to this black tie affair and spend the night dancing while munching and sipping on cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

Pricing: $35 per individual; $60 per couple

2. Experience the Harlem Renaissance

Where/When: Woodstock Community Center, Saturday at 6 p.m.

Why Go? Enjoy 1920s and 30s jazz and poetry from the that highlighted the Harlem Renaissance. Proceeds go to help build a school library in Kenya.

Pricing: $25

3. Guns and Hoses 5K Walk

Where/When: Hobgood Park, Saturday at 8 a.m.

Why Go: The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office (Guns) and Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services (Hoses) are raising money for their charities.

Pricing: $20 advance registration; $25 on race day

4. Wreck This Journal

Where/When: FoxTale Book Shoppe, Friday at 10:30 a.m.

Why Go: Go crazy with barbeque sauce, gum wrappers and journals in this creative and wild workshop. You just have to go to see it.

Pricing: $25 and a journal

5. Open Mic Night

Where/When: Cotton Mill Deli, Saturday at 7 p.m.

Why Go: Check out the local talent and enjoy a latté and great food.
