Jorelys Rivera: What You Can Do Now
Vigils, memorials and funds are being set up for the slain girl.
Viewing and Funeral
According to Darby Funeral Home, funeral arrangements have been set for Jorelys Rivera. A public viewing is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, while a public service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Canton. Rivera's remains will be flown to Puerto Rico for burial after a private service for family members, WSB-TV reported Tuesday night.
Candlelight Vigils
Update:
There will be just one vigil for 7-year-old Jorelys Rivera as of right now. It will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Heritage Park.
Originally, there were two vigils planned, one on Wednesday at Heritage Park and another on Friday in front of the River Ridge apartment complex.
Check the Facebook event page for updates on the event.
Memorial Fund
Jorelys' mother's employer, Pilgrim's Pride Corporation, has created a memorial fund to help the family. Anyone who wants to donate can contact United Community Bank in Canton or any other branch office in the area. The Canton branch is at 2215 Riverstone Blvd. Please note that your donation is for the "Jorelys Rivera Memorial Fund".
If you know of other memorials, donation funds and more, add them in the comments section here.
Pink and green ribbons
Later this week, Rivera's school, Canton Elementary School, will be displaying pink and green ribbons outside the school.
Wear a black ribbon
A Twitter group is requesting people wear a black ribbon today through Friday in honor of Jorelys Rivera.
A Facebook event was started asking people to leave their porch lights on Monday night when Rivera was found.
This list will be updated as more events are scheduled. If you know of something going on in memory of Jorelys Rivera, add it in the comments.

Please check event page for updates on the meeting place for Friday. Outback will not contain the number of people who have RSVP.There may still be an investigation going on at that time to allow us to collect at the apartments. Heritage Park by the YMCA and Ingles is a great center location.

I showed up for the candlelight vigil scheduled for tonight at Heritage Park but nothing was going on there! Other people were driving around the parking lot looking for the vigil. What happened??!

Zelma, the vigil was changed yesterday to just one on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Heritage Park. But, be advised, there will also be the public viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, so the vigil could change again. Information on the vigil is being continually updated on its Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/events/146347572134229/.

We will be meeting in front of the park at 6 due to the rain we have been requested not to gather on the grounds (sidewalks in the park only please), First the town will be speaking to the people. Then a march will start at 7:30 through town square to Darby's funeral home where the candles will be lit and once we walk back to the stage 8:30 pink balloons will be released in her honor. I want to personally thank everyone that has stepped up and helped this become a reality. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Also buses are arranged to accommodate the growing amount of cars at the Home depot on Riverstone Parkway. Please try to park here and take the bus. They are running continuously throughout the event. Updates on when the bus starts will be on the site
