Rigoberto Lara Hernandez, 34, drowned in Lake Allatoona Sunday afternoon.
Around 2 p.m. on Sunday, Cherokee Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a drowning at the Galt's Ferry Day Use area in Acworth, according to a Cherokee County Sheriff's Office news release.
Hernandez went swimming following a family picnic and was later seen floating in the water.
He was transported to Kennestone Hospital and later pronounced dead.
