Missing Cherokee Man Found Safe

John Carson Bryant told authorities that "after a family dispute on Thursday, he decided he was going to drive to the West Coast," the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said.

John Carson Bryant, the Cherokee man with Alzheimer's who had not been seen since Thursday, has been found safe, the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said this afternoon.

Bryant's son spotted his father’s truck parked at the Hardee's on Highway 92 and Interstate 75 in Acworth at about 1 p.m. today, Lt. Jay Baker said.

Bryant, 76, of Acworth, was inside eating lunch.

He told authorities that "after a family dispute on Thursday, he decided he was going to drive to the West Coast," Baker said.

Bryant got as far as Louisiana, then decided to drive back home.

"Prior to going to his house," Baker said, "he stopped at Hardee's for lunch."

Bryant was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta as a precaution.
