The film doesn’t spend a lot of time on the field. Instead, it’s the story of nerds using statistics to take over a jock's world and hit a grand slam.

Moneyball stands on its own with a strong supporting cast of personalities, including Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman as the team manager at odds with the Ivy League math theory.
