Morning Networking; Nightly Workshop
Here is the information you need to know Friday, July 29.
1. There is going to be some nice, Patchy fog to start off the day and then mostly sunny skies with a high of 93 degrees to complete your Friday. There is a slight chance of rain this afternoon, but the odds decrease into the evening, according to the National Weather Service.
2. Today is the last day of open houses before the big day. Here are the times:
- Bascomb Elementary: Kindergarten - 12-1 p.m.; 1st Grade - 1:30-2:30 p.m.
- Mill Creek Middle: 8th Grade - 3-5 p.m.
- Woodstock Middle: 3-5 p.m.
3. Bahvioral coach Kirk Martin is visiting Woodstock tonight at 7. He will be presenting a free workshop at the Woodstock Community Church that offers theories as well as practical advice for teachers, parents and children that focues on getting kids off to school without anxiety.
4. Mill Creek Mill School Teacher Raymond Robin Watts pleaded guilty to distributing and possessing child pornography in federal court Thursday. The 55-year-old man was arrested earlier this for having sexually explicit images of children, in particular, minor boys.
5. The Morning Buzz is moving to the Chambers at City Center. This is a monthly meeting hosted by Main Street Woodstock where business owners and Woodstock individuals can network and learn more about the community. The meeting starts at 8 a.m. and will focus on two points this morning: the Woodstock High School Business Expo and the Chambers at City Center Project that includes Preservation Woodstock's 2011 Photo Exhibit.
