Northside Awarded Amphitheater Name
With the promise of a $300,000 sponsorship over 10 years, Northside Hospital-Cherokee will be the name of Woodstock's amphitheater.
The Downtown Woodstock amphitheater now has a name along with a 10-year, $300,000 sponsorship.
The Woodstock City Council approved the naming rights proposal for Northside Hospital-Cherokee at its Monday meeting, according to the Cheorkee Tribune.
The Northside Hospital-Cherokee Amphitheatre will be built at the Park at City Center.
The Cherokee Tribune said the hospital's contract was approved with one of the conditions being that the $300,000 be paid upfront.
The Parks and Recreation Department conducted a two-month drive for requests from regional businesses with the intention to create a partnership with a local corporation and the city of Woodstock for the public outdoor facility. The proposals were presented at the Jan. 9 City Council meeting.
Other applicants included Acru, LGE Community Credit Union and Colby Family Chiropractic.

Correction: the other applicants included Colby Family Chiropractic, not Ribley as stated in the article. Colby Family Chiropractic, Acru and LGE Community Credit Union were the 3 other proposals received.
