Rogers: Ruling 'Contrary' to Freedom

The Supreme Court today upheld President Barack Obama's landmark healthcare law.

Georgia Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) has responded to the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama's landmark healthcare law:

"The decision by the United States Supreme Court stands contrary to the very principles of freedom on which our nation was founded. The idea that a Federal Government could wield this much power and control over sovereign citizens is surely not an idea contemplated by our forefathers.

The pathway towards a return to liberty involves electing conservatives in every office in the land. This should be followed by a simultaneous repeal of Obamacare in Congress and every constitutional roadblock the individual states can muster.

Georgia maintains the right to appropriate state resources in the manner best suited for our citizens. We should ensure that no Georgia tax dollar is spent implementing this freedom destructing law.

Senator Rogers - you do not speak for all of Georgia. Who appointed you tsar with those powers? Stick to hotel investments and counting the number of corporations fleeing ALEC - that's your area of expertise

Senator Rogers, I am glad to see that you know more than the majority of our Supreme Court. What did the Republicans do about healthcare when they had a chance. Nothing. They were to busy too busy turning a blind eye to our financial sector till they collapsed in there own bullspit and sent us into a global recession. Something has to be done about healthcare. I pay more for my family's health insurance than I do for my mortgage. What is your suggestion Senator? How about some real answers and not some political speach about the treacheries of Liberalism. I am no liberal, but at least the Democrats got something done. We are by no means done with the healthcare issue, but at least we have finally started dealing with it.

What State Sen. Will "The Thrill" Rogers really meant is, that the Supreme Court ruling was contrary to the millions of dollars insurance companies have poured into candidates like State Sen. Rogers for the last three decades to prevent this exact thing from happening. State Sen. Will is an elected official for hire and will do whatever his financial backers tell him. Whether its ALEC, AFP or some other PAC, Sen. Will does not care about the citizens, he cares about the currency. If you do not believe me, look at his voting record and who it benefited the most.

Wow - Chip Rogers is a bigger and more disingenuous idiot than I already thought he was.

I guess I don't need to point out that if you have healthcare then you don't pay any new tax - or more accurately, a fine - but maybe it's best that I do seeing as Fox (the sour grapes channel) were claiming it was the biggest tax hike in US history last night. Sometimes I miss the UK. We have laws that stop outright lies being broadcast like that.

America and Americans won yesterday Chip, Cruelty lost. You want to side with the cruel who'd deny my son and wife coverage because of pre-existing conditions? Be my guest. I'll remember come November...

The founding fathers were men of their times, and could not envision today's modern era. Heroes in their time, yes - but don't attempt to preach to us about what they would think about a healthcare bill in 2012. That's an old, ridiculous argument used by the "righteous right" when they have nothing better to offer. The only idea they have had is - you guessed it - Romneycare. But now they don't like that one either.

Sen. Chip has more credibility as a football picker than a legislator who attempts to govern based on the size of his campaign donations. Stop using fake conservative issues, and start working for the people who elected you: not just your largest contributors.

Hey Guy Bailey... go back to the UK if America is so bad. Senator Rogers is correct. Dems like yourself want and need more government in their lives because you're unable to make decisions on you own.

Dems only want more government because you Republicans are too busy fleecing the majority of honest Americans. Open your eyes and stop selling everyone down the river to corporate America and calling it "free" enterprise or "small" businesses. Both parties should show the public all their contributors, and then explain how they're looking out for "us".

Please explain to all of us how all other modern industrialized countries have some form of federal health care, which by the way is better than ours, and costs less. Republicans have been in control of Congress since 1994 (except for 2 years). Where are their ideas? How many years does it take to think of something? You all seem to know how to be against everything, but can't come up with one positive plan to put forward to help solve a problem.

Hi Kea - America is great apart from one appalling fact - that unlike every other mature, rich democracy in the world - it treats healthcare as a privilege not a right.

Nobody ever went bankrupt in England if they broke their leg. I sadly cannot say the same thing in this wonderful country - but the majority of Americans, Republican and Democrat - are waking up to the fact that the Health Insurers have been holding them hostage and extorting them for decades.

Not any more. Americans 1 Crooks and the Cruel 0..
