Donley's inspiration comes from her brother and sister who are mentally and physically handicapped. While she plays soccer and basketball for Etowah, she said she has spent her life supporting the Special Olympics.
“I have grown up going to the Special Olympics every year to cheer them on,” Donley said. “They are my inspiration for my project.”
The fundraiser will be Monday, Feb. 27 during the Etowah vs. Sequoyah soccer game at the Etowah Stadium starting at 5 p.m. The Special Olympics athletes will sing the National Anthem as well as escort the starting lineup for each team onto the field.
“I hope to make it a really fun event and to honor many of our local, special athletes,” Donley said.
All the ticket sales and donated concessions will benefit the Cherokee County Special Olympics. There will be face painting, balloon animals and raffle prizes.
Any individual or businesses interested in donating to or supporting this senior project, email Donley at email@example.com.
