Tailgaters Take the Streets in Downtown
Here is the information you need to know Friday, Sept. 2.
1. You will start off the weekend with sunny skies and a high of 95 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
2. Rep. Phil Gingrey, the 11th District congressman, who is likely to add Cherokee County to his district next election, met with constituents in Kennesaw Thursday afternoon. Read a live recap from the town hall meeting here.
3. The Great Downtown Tailgate is tonight just in time to kick off college football season. Everyone is encouraged to sport his or her favorite team's attire. LKT Sports Art will be hosting the third annual cornhole competition with two-person teams. Chattahoochee Technical College's football team will be set up at Canyon Burgers with giveaways and an opportunity for individuals to have their photo taken with the team. There will also be a $100 Downtown Dollar Giveaway. Take your receipt for every $10 you spend downtown to the Visitor's Center to be entered into the drawing. And don't forget to stop by all the businesses to check out all their individual games and events for the night.
4. Ember Hot Yoga is celebrating its one year anniversary with an open house and free mini classes all day Saturday. Anyone who has been curious about trying either a hot yoga or regular class, can join the Ember team in a variety of classes that run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for all levels of experience. Registration is not required.
5. The second week of football season starts tonight with River Ridge High School kicking off their season against Mt. Pisgah.
