Time for Autumn Fest

Looking for low-cost activities for the kids? Consider a movie, a youth writing showcase or a history exhibit.

 

1. Dixie Days

Deal: Through period crafts, games and interactive stories, this free program at the Hickory Flat Library will teach children all they need to know about life in the South.

Good through: Tuesday

2. Night at the Movies

Deal: See Rio on an outdoor big screen at the Macedonia Community ballpark. Macedonia Elementary PTA members get in free. Join at the door—or pay the $5 admission fee for non-members.

Good through: Friday

3. Autumn Fest

Deal: Holly Springs will host this free celebration at Barrett Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Saturday. There will be children’s games, food, music and more. Patch will be at the festival handing out freebies. Swing by and say hello!

Good through: Saturday

4. Wright-On

Deal: Support student playwrights from E.T. Booth Middle School as they showcase their 10-minute short plays. Tickets are $9 at the door.

Good through: Sunday

5. Carter's Quest for Tut

Deal: This exhibit, which starts Monday, will feature original Egyptian artifacts, dioramas showing life in the days of King Tut and a gallery with Egyptian-themed art and souvenirs. Best of all, it costs a mere $8 per student. Proceeds benefit the Arts Alliance of Georgia.

Good through: Nov. 18
