Cherokee Tribune Editor Arrested, Fired

Brandon Wilson, Cherokee Tribune's managing editor, was arrested for his involvement in a prostitution case with two others Thursday afternoon in Canton.

 

Cherokee Tribune Managing Editor Brandon Wilson was arrested Thursday for his involvement in a Canton prostitution case.

Lt. Jay Baker, spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, told Canton-Sixes Patch Wilson, 33, was arrested at 12:50 a.m. Thursday on a charge of pandering. He was released at 7:15 a.m. on a $680 bail.

According to the attached jail booking reports, Erik Leshaun Jackson, 29, of Long Beach, CA, and Sonya Lynn Strobel, 25, of Smyrna, were also arrested with Wilson. Jackson was charged with pimping, and Strobel was charged with prostitution both at a $680 bail.

The Tribune said the police reports state Canton police arrested them at a Canton Days Inn on Juniper Street.

Wilson of Cartersville, replaced Barbara Jacoby in May when she became the Cherokee County School District spokeswoman.

The Tribune reported Wilson's termination as of Thursday afternoon. Brian Clark, managing editor of the weekly Neighbor Newspapers chain, will step in until the position is filled.
