Woodstock Names Moss Police Chief

Calvin Moss begins Monday, March 5.

Calvin W. Moss accepted the Woodstock Police Chief position today.

“We are certainly excited to have Chief Moss coming on board with Woodstock” said City Manager Jeff Moon. “Chief Moss’ experience and training made it clearly evident that he was the right person, at the right place and at the right time to lead our department.”

Moss begins Monday, March 5. He was introduced to the Woodstock Police Department at a departmental meeting this morning, Moon said.

Moss has served on the Atlanta Police Department for more than 30 years. He served as the Chief of Staff from 1994 to 2002 and is currently a Deputy Chief of Criminal Investigations.

Moss holds a master of science degree in criminal justice from St. Leo University and a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Brenau University. He is a graduate of the F.B.I National Academy and the Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville.

Moss replaced David Bores who retired in late December after serving as chief for three years.

Everyone is invited to an Open House to welcome Moss on Monday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. in the Chambers at City Center. Moss will take his oath of office at the City Council meeting immediately following the reception.
