Woodstock Native To March in Obama Inauguration Parade

Editor's note: Patch has learned that Matt Rich, a first year midshipmen at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and a 2012 graduate of Etowah High School, will be in the parade as well.
A Woodstock native will be among thousands of citizens participating in the 57th annual Presidential Inauguration parade today.
Capt. Ashley E. Moore will march with the Marine Corps' service staff during the parade, which will march pass the White House along Pennsylvania Avenue and arrive at the U.S. Capitol before the ceremony.
Moore told the Defense Video and Imagery Distribution System that it was an "honor" for her to participate in the ceremony.
Moore will march in the parade along with four other officers and other Marine Barracks Washington service members.
Moore and other military officials are part of the Joint Task Force National Capital Region (JTF-NCR), which serves as the Department of Defense Liaison to the Presidential Inauguration Committee and the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies.

I enjoyed reading about Capt. Ashley Moore participating in the parade. It is truly an honor for her. I am writing to question why the word honor was in quotation marks in the article. If a writer is quoting someone, the entire remark should be in quotation marks. By placing quotation marks around the single word honor, the author (accidentally?) is implying that it is NOT an honor. Call me picky, but punctuation matters.

No, putting quotations around the word signifies that it was how she described being chosen for the experience--those were her exact words she told the DoD. If I didn't use quotation marks, it would imply I was essentially putting words in her mouth.
