The Woodstock Police Department is encouraging its residents to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables from their cars after recent reports of entering autos in a subdivision. 

The notice, issued Monday evening, stated the department "has recently begun to see a rise in entering autos during the overnight hours where suspects are entering into unlocked vehicles and garages."

"We had a total of six vehicles reported entered yesterday at four different addresses within the Deer Run subdivision," Woodstock Police Department Spokeswoman Brittany Duncan said on Tuesday.

Items stolen include cash, credit and debit cards, and electronics. Duncan said all vehicles were unlocked.

"Detectives are currently following up on some good leads," she added. 

The department is asking citizens to call 9-1-1 if they see any suspicious people, vehicles or behavior around their homes.
