Three weeks into spring and the termites are not slowing down. There is activity everywhere, from workers to swarmers. Termites are being found in residential and commercial properties.
I previously mentioned different termite treatments. I also said that each treatment provides both advantages and disadvantages. Well, here it goes, I prefer a defined liquid treatment over the bait/monitoring system.
Here is my main reason: I have included a photo of a home looking at an outside wall. You can see the green monitor station in the ground. To the right of the window is an interior wall separating the office from the bathroom. There is no sign of a termite tunnel on the exterior foundation. However, that interior wall is infested with termites. There are termite tunnels on the wall and damage. Why did the monitor station not attract the termites? Why are the termites inside?
Answer: monitor stations do not attract termites. They are placed in the ground, and we hope termites locate the stations so we can supply the termites with a bait. Also, the termites are inside because they came up through the plumbing penetration in the bathroom.
In my opinion, using a liquid, such a Termidor, in most cases, would have eliminated the termites from entering the structure through the plumbing penetration. The picture of the house shown, was treated using Termidor. When using the liquid, you apply a barrier around the entire house.
There is so much more to talk about termites, but next time I will move into mosquito problems.

Why wouldn't you prefer a "Full" liquid Treatment , as with the bait stations you don't have fully treated area.
Please share the difference of the Baits with a defined treatment, or Full Liquid treatment options.
With Non Repellent products like your example of "Termidor" Vs a Repentant product liquid treatment.
Every Person, and there home is different, Some don't want any control that would require a liquid treatment no matter how little of the active pesticides is being used.
Termindor is one of the lowest by the way. This seemed to drive the Bait Station sales in the past, as a less intrusive/ less pesticide option. Cost of treatment is another factor, to meet minimum treatment standards( I understand those have been changed) the 4 gal to 10 ft. per foot of deft would mean you use 100's of Gals of Termindor, A Great Product but the most costly by far... The Broad brush approach to a Termite treatment is misguided. A Termite inspector worth there weight in salt would never recommend an treatment options before an on site inspection, this will dictate if the less invasive "Defined" treatment is even an option ...
