Rain, Possible Wintry Mix Moves into Woodstock

Wet and cold conditions will stick around Woodstock and Towne Lake into the weekend.

Steady rain and a possible wintry mix is expected to make its way into Woodstock today and tonight, just in time for the peak Thanksgiving travel period.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for north and central Georgia, and Woodstock residents should expect "widespread rainfall of one to three inches" throughout Tuesday and into Wednesday.

"A second round of winter precipitation is expected across portions of northern Georgia late Tuesday night and Wednesday," the statement reads. "Rain will become mixed with snow after midnight Tuesday night. The rain and snow mix will become all snow at elevations above 1,500 feet."

The National Weather Service notes snowfall amounts of up to a half-inch on grassy areas could occur, with higher elevations are expected to see amounts up to an inch.

Other than the wet conditions during the first half of the week, expect chilly temperatures to stick around through the weekend.

Temperatures today will be around 44, and the low will dip to 34 degrees tonight.

Wednesday will bring rain during the first half of the day and temperatures topping out in the mid 40s. Wednesday's lows are expected to drop back down to low to mid 20s.

Thanksgiving Day will be sunny and cold, with a high of 43 degrees and a low around 25 degrees.

Black Friday shoppers will also be greeted with sunny skies, and high temperatures reaching 50 degrees and lows bottoming out at 28 degrees.

Saturday and Sunday will also be sunny, with highs in the low 50s and lows dipping to just below freezing.
