Applebees is a Survivor

Named for the parking lot of the restaurant where she was rescued, Applebees has gorgeous markings and freckles all over.

Applebees has a survivor's spirit and heart. She is so appreciative of being saved from starvation. She greets everyone she sees submissively with a wagging tail and when being petted will roll over for a belly rub.

On June 4, 2012, Angels rescuers found her in an Applebees parking lot as they returned from a save at a nearby shelter. At first sight the rescuers thought she was a cat, but then realized she was a puppy alone in a parking lot on a six lane road. The rescuers called to her and Applebees ran and jumped in their car.

Applebees was taken to the vet, found to be healthy, given her shots and the next day placed in a foster home. At the initial vet appointment Applebees was skin and bones at an emaciated 8.8 lbs. With two weeks of love and a good diet shes gained 5.9 lbs and as of June 22 was a healthy 14.7 pounds and is growing taller and stronger every day. Approximately 4 months old, she appears to be a Jack Russell / Pit Bull / or other terrier mix. She has the most gorgeous markings and freckles all over.

Her foster family lovingly calls her Pippie (Longstocking) Frecklebottoms for her large pigtail ears and freckled face and body. Since rescue she has turned from acting on instinct to survive into a happy go lucky puppy. As would be expected from a once starving dog, Applebees is nuts for food. She eats at her bowl as if it might be her last meal. She has learned some patience quickly will sit and wait for treats. Applebees should be fed separately from other dogs.

Applebees lives with two children (6 & 9) and two dogs. She loves the kids and there is nothing negative to report. Foster son says, Pippie is the most loving dog weve ever had. Applebees loves to play, and wrestles with her canine foster brother. Applebees is always with her people. She does not want to be left alone. She is afraid of being alone again and keeps close tabs on her family. She is a cuddler, you can expect her to always with you. Applebees is working on her house training and is crated when left at home alone.
