Business Opens Doors to Bible Study

Weekly gathering is a reflection of Southeast Restoration Group's focus on faith.

A group of 30 or so men, ages 22-62, meet early every Friday morning at Southeast Restoration Group in Canton. The gathering isn’t for a business meeting or a breakfast; they bring their Bibles and study God’s word.

They also have been bringing their friends—and those friends have brought friends. Aaron Eddy, brand coordinator for SRG, guesses there are three and four generations of friends among the early risers.

The study began a few years ago with a small group of SRG employees. The men study Men’s Fraternity, part of “The Quest for Authentic Manhood” series that “has an incredible way of speaking directly to the heart of men,” Eddy said.

They watch a video at 6:15 p.m., then break up into small groups at 7 a.m. The study lasts about an hour and a half.

Offering a Bible study to employees and the community is an extension of SRG’s focus on faith.

“We feel like it’s a privilege, at SRG, to have the space and capability to host local ministry opportunities,” company CEO and founder Ben Looper said. “Groups of women, men and other corporate groups are able to meet and worship freely without any chastising. We like to think of SRG as a local mission field with an opportunity to grow God’s kingdom.”

While the business helps people who have had some catastrophe in their lives – fire, flood, home or business damage – the primary focus is the people they help. That philosophy is reflected in the company’s mission statement: “Restoring lives while repairing property.”

“Restoring lives comes first on purpose,” Eddy said. “It is about much more than simply repairing the home or business, although we do this with the utmost care and high standards. We want to shine a light in these families’ lives. God has called us into this business as sort of a ministry, to serve these people and to encourage them.

“If you think about it, what better training could there be for that mission than a men’s group that encourages our faith and always give us strength to serve the families we interact with?”
