Chance of Rain, Wintry Mix Thursday Night For Woodstock

The National Weather Service gives Woodstock and Cherokee County a slight chance of precipitation as the low Thursday dips to 35.

High temps in the 60s won't last, as Wednesday ushers in a freeze watch covering north Georgia, including Woodstock and Cherokee County.

In effect late Wednesday night through early Thursday morning, it warns of lows in the mid 20s to mid 30s, which could damage vegetation, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday's high temp is expected to reach 61, but Thursday night holds a slight chance of rain and snow.

NWS gives Woodstock and Cherokee County a 30 percent chance of precipitation Thursday night, according to the forecast, which puts the low around 35.

NWS predicts a slight chance of rain, snow, and sleet before 4 a.m., a chance of snow and sleet between 4 a.m. to 5 a.m. and 5 a.m. and then a slight chance of snow after 5 a.m.

Friday will bring a 50 percent chance of precipitation. A chance of snow will mainly occur before 7 a.m., which will change over to possibly snow and sleet between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. and rain for the remainder of the day. 

No accumulations are expected, but the higher elevations could see some dusting.

Clouds and the wet stuff will stick around throughout the weekend, with highs expected to reach the mid 50s.
