Cherokee Authors To Sign Books at Dean's Store

Authors Rebecca Johnston and Michael Wagner will sign copies of their books, both of which detail the history of Cherokee County.

Two local authors will visit the Woodstock Visitor's Center at Dean's Store to sign copies of their books on Cherokee County history.

The authors — Rebecca Johnston and Michael Wagner — will visit the store, located at 8588 Main Street, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 to sign copies of their book. The signing will take place during the Woodstock Christmas Open House event.

Johnston, who serves as the managing editor at the Cherokee Tribune, is the author of Cherokee County, Georgia: A History, which is the first comprehensive book published on the county's history since 1932. 

The book documents the years through time in which Native Americans resided in Cherokee through the Civil War, the Great Depression, World War II and the modern era.

Wagner is the author of Picture Perfect in Cherokee County: Selections from the Buddy Alexander Collection. 

His book features Alexanders' photographs, which record life in Cherokee between the late 1940s and the mid 1970s. In includes 200 pages of local businesses, celebrations, activities, civic and social organizations, portraits, schools, and students.

Copies of both books purchased during event will be signed by the author. Proceeds will benefit the Cherokee County Historical Society.
