Fall Ball Registration Continues

Here is the information you need to know Friday, Aug. 5.

1. It's going to be mostly sunny with temperatures in the high 90s and heat index values as high as 101. There is a 30 percent chance of rain after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

2. With temperatures being so high the past few days, the Cherokee School District canceled midday outdoor activities for Wednesday and Thursday. Athletic and band practices have either been moved inside or to a later time. Superintendent Frank Petruzielo released a statement explaining the district's procedures for concerned parents. 3. This month's to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival. Of course, '60s attire is encouraged. Musicians will be scattered throughout downtown, and merchants will be having a variety sales and their own entertainment. There will also be a  Giveaway. Take your receipt for every $10 you spend downtown during FNL to the , and you have a chance to win a $100 Downtown Gift Certificate.

4.  goes live on stage at the City Center Auditorium today. The adult comedy by Brenda Fontaine, about four elderly gentlemen in search of a date, is for ages 16 and older. Tickets are $11 each with performances are at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

5. Registration for East Cherokee baseball's Fall Ball season will continue this Saturday and the next Saturday, Aug. 13 at the concession stand at from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fall Ball is for children ages 5 to 19, and prices start at $90 for one player, $160 for two players and $225 for three players.
