Flower League Gives Dean's Store Fall Face Lift

Here is the information you need to know Tuesday, Sept. 27.

1. There is a slight chance of rain this afternoon, but the forecast shows most the day will be mostly sunny with a high of 82 degrees and a low of 60, according to the National Weather Service.

2. is hosting its first free community education semiar with Mayor Donnie Henriques, the Consulate of El Salvador, Acru CEO Matt Hames and Barista and Host Tonya Simmons from 5 to 7 p.m. Local Salvadoran restaurants will have traditional dancers and music and traditional food for tasting. There will also be a coffee tasting.

3. The is hosting a benefit for its Youth Explorer Program at the tonight. Five percent of proceeds will be donated to the Explorers to fund new uniforms and help pay for travel and accomodations to local and national competitions. The Explorer Program is made up of 14 to 18-year-old students interest in law enforcement who participate in educational programs for that provide career orientation experiences, leadership opportunities and community service activities.

4. The Woodstock Flower League worked on a landscape project at the back entrance of the in downtown. The attached photos show some of the additions members of the league made to the sidewalk. Members that were involved in Monday's project include Melissa Casteel, Suzie Thomas, Pat Tanner and Jean Hanson. The next projects will focus on exchanging portions of downtown's greenery for a fall face lift. The league is part of the Design Committee for . 

5. Four  deputies completed 408 hours of police training over the past 11 weeks. See the announcement about their graduation from the Basic Mandate Course here.
