Get Out: What's Going On Around Cherokee This Weekend

Here's a roundup of events happening the weekend before Christmas!

With Christmas just around the corner, here's a list of events that will help get you in the holiday spirit. 

  • The efforts to help Holly Springs couple Shane and Meg Ladner recover continues with a Hunt For Heroes Benefit from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Dec. 22 at Stratus Kitchen & Bar in Canton. Tickets are $15 per person and includes light hors d'oeuvres, entertainment by country singer Caitlyn Green, raffle drawings and dancing.   • The Cherokee County Animal Shelter is holding a special on its pet adoptions in which they will all be $50 until 5 p.m. Saturday Dec. 22. Click here to see a list of its adoptable pets or call (770) 345-7270 for more information. 
  • The Joyful Noise Project on Sunday Dec. 23 will hold its Nativity on Woodstock Square. The event will include local pastors and worship band between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to celebrate the birth of Jesus. The life-sized display will feature Italian work of art crafted by Fontanini and will be on display on Sunday and Monday.
  • Downtown Woodstock on Monday Dec. 24 will be transformed into a snowy Christmas occasion with Christmas in Woodstock! The free event will include music, cocoa, an appearance by Santa on a Woodstock dire engine and also enough snow to play in. The event begins at 5 p.m., but the snow area will be open to play in starting at 4:30 p.m.
