Last Day of Statewide Burn Ban

Here is the information you need to know Friday, Sept. 30.

1. You will see nothing but sunny skies today, according to the National Weather Service. There will be a high of 76 degrees with a low of 47. There will be gusts of wind that could get as high as 30 mph throughout the day.

2.  and the U.S. Dept. of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration signed an agreement to provide free education courses and put 75 percent of participants back to work in 90 days. They will provide a 10-hour general safety course Oct. 24-26. See more details about this free training and .

4. Registration ends today for . Call the Cherokee Parks and Recreation Center at 770-924-7768 to sign up for leagues, "A" (Monday), "B" (Tuesday) or "women's" (Thursday). The season starts Oct. 17.

5. Start raking your yard and gathering up your leaves (actually today might be bad with the high gusts of wind), today is the last day of the statewide outdoor burn ban. You will be able to commence outdoor burning Saturday. The ban has been in effect since May 1 and enforced in 54 Georgia counties.
