Newest Downtown Restaurant Opens

Here is the information you need to know Tuesday, Aug. 23.

1. You can expect nothing but sunny skies and a high of 90 degrees today, according to the National Weather Service.

2. Gov. Nathan Deal announced the  Monday afternoon. He also said residents will have the ability to have their plates mailed to them instead of going to the county offices to pick them up. Vote on your opinion of the .

3. Fire Stone Wood Fired Pizza and Grill opened its doors for lunch in Downtown Woodstock Monday. The newest downtown restaurant, located at 120 Chambers St., will be open the remainder of the week for lunch and will eventually be open for dinner as well. Their liquor license is pending, but will compliment the bar that lets guests watch the pizza ovens.

4. Parents, did your kids go off to college this past week for the first time? Or maybe it's their senior year at college and you still haven't found a way to cope with them leaving home each year. Patch Columnist shares her experience with her 18-year-old son leaving and her empty nest at 7 a.m.

5.  AP Physics Teacher Kelly Burke participated in PAN 2011, a week-long nuclear research experience at Michigan State University at its National Superconducting Cyclotron Lab. Burke and 19 other teachers from across the U.S. analyzed cosmic rays, learned about nuclear bombardment and particle acceleration and performed experiments with neutron detection.
