School News Tops Week's Headlines

Here are the top headlines you may have missed this week.

1. : Join in on the discussion from Friday's meeting where the Board of Education voted 4-3 against the proposal. Board members Robert Rechsteiner, Mike Chapman, Janet Read and Robert Wofford voted no and members Mike Geist, Kim Chochran and Rob Usher vote yes. See video coverage from the meeting .

4. : Woodstock Elementary among is among five elementary schools that can make their schools more pedestrian- and bicyclist-friendly thanks to a $400,000 boost from the State Transportation Board.

5. : Cherokee County School District students improved their scores from 2010 in 25 of the 30 content areas on the 2011 Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests. The fifth-, seventh- and eighth-grade classes led the way, boosting their percentage meeting or exceeding standards in all five content areas.
