Summer Camp Targets Cherokee's Special Needs Children

KAOS camp allows children and young adults with special needs have their own summer camp experience.

The Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency wants to ensure local special needs children are not left out of the summer camp experience.

CRPA will once again offer its KAOS camp, which is designed for special needs kids who "want a place to hang out over the summer," the agency said on Monday.

The camp targets children and adults between the ages of 6 and 22 and camp hours will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The camp will feature a 3:1 ration of counselors and staff to the children, and will go on three field trips on a weekly basis.

Other planned activities include arts and crafts, exploring our parks, swimming, bowling and bounce houses.
