WARNING: Child Pornography Facebook Virus

Be aware and be careful - there is a current virus involving an inappropriate video containing child pornography that is being circulated through Facebook.

It is reported that the feed does not represent itself as child pornography but contains the current heading “watch this if you are curious.” Authorities warn that these headings or titles could change and users should be aware of suspicious titles. The video is clicked on and viewed by a Facebook user.

Once it is clicked on, the virus replicates and is sent to people in the person’s Facebook friends list. This video will then show up on your news feed as a result of one of your Facebook friends having clicked on the video to view it as previously mentioned. 

Woodstock Police Spokesperson Brittany Duncan told Patch no one has alerted the agency about the virus.

"I would encourage anyone who receives a link or views a posted link from an unknown source to not open the link," she added. "If a Facebook user does open a link containing such content, the user should immediately report it to Facebook."

FoxNews.com reported this week that while the video is at least seven years old, authorities are still searching for the perpetrator they say is known as John Doe 8.

If you receive a video on your news feed that looks suspicious or inappropriate report the matter to Facebook. The FBI and Facebook are aware of the virus.
