We Survived the Snow, Big Read Starts Today

Here is some information you need to know before you start your day, Feb. 10.

1. We'v survived the snow last night. Luckily the sun is going to make an appearance today, but temperatures will drop back to 25 degrees tonight. The National Weather Service doesn't show any precipitation through the weekend, so bundle up, and enjoy the weather.

2. We rolled out some new features Wednesday focused on Woodstock-Towne Lake parents. We want you to be part of the discussion. With the , feel free to share any events not listed you want your neighbors to know about. is a wonderful place for you to unwind and share tips on how to keep your sanity with time that little time to yourself. And of course, we want your nominations for the weekly .

3. This is our second week with the new features today. Check out the Weekend Planner at 10 a.m., at noon, at 1 p.m., at 3 p.m. and Bites Nearby at 5 p.m. Don't forget the PatchCast at noon as well.

4. The Big Read in Cherokee County starts today. This initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Arts Midwest goes through March 24. Today through Feb. 14, there will be an advance distribution of books and materials to local high schools in preparation for reading The Bridge of San Luis Rey and Our Town.
