What's Going On Around Cherokee This Weekend

The weather will mostly cooperative, so why not get out and enjoy it! Here's a list of things you can do this weekend:

• Friends of Shane and Meg Ladner will hold a pancake breakfast and silent auction at 7:30 a.m. at Longhorns Steakhouse in Kennesaw. A $20 donation is requested, which will help the Canton couple . 
• The Rotary Club of Canton is hosting Pancakes with Santa between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Saturday Dec. 1 at the BridgeMill fire station. Santa Claus will arrive at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $5 and breakfast includes pancakes, bacon, orange juice and coffee. Breakfast includes pancakes, bacon, orange juice and coffee. Residents can bring their camera to take photos with Santa at no additional charge. Proceeds from the event benefits MUST Ministries and Papa's Pantry. • Claus and Paws For a Cause will start at 10 a.m. Saturday Dec. 1 at the Cherokee County Senior Services building in Canton. Residents can enjoy cocoa and spend time with Mrs. Claus and the elves while waiting to have their pictures taken with Santa Claus. A $10 donation includes a digital download of your photo by a professional photographer. Proceeds benefit the Cherokee County Animal Shelter. Call (678) 493-6000 for more information. 
• The Ball Ground Business Association will host its annual Ball Ground Tour of Homes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Ball Ground. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased on the association's website.
• The city of Holly Springs will hold its annual Christmas parade at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The parade will start at Hiram Way and end at the Holly Springs Train Depot. After the parade, Santa Claus will make an appearance at the train depot. Entertainment and light refreshments will be available and all families will receive one complimentary photo with Santa.
• The Canton Optimist Club will hold its annual Christmas Parade and Festival Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. in the downtown area. Music performers and vendors will set up throughout the entire event while Santa Claus will visit between 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The parade will start at 6 p.m. The parade will start at the Auto Zone on Waleska Street.
• The city of Woodstock will host its annual Christmas Parade of Lights and Jubilee at 5:30 p.m. at the Park at City Center. Before the parade, Elm Street Arts will perform The Lazy Elves at 2 p.m. at its theatre. While admission is free, residents attending are asked to bring a can of chili, stew, or chunky soup to help local food pantries. The parade will start at 5:30 p.m., making its way northbound on Main Street from Highway 92 to Woodstock Elementary School on Rope Mill Road. After the parade, the city will have a slew of events, ranging from visits and photos with Santa Claus, children's activities, food, Holiday vendors and more. The city will also show a free movie in the park, Rudolph and The Grinch starting at 8 p.m.
• The 32nd Annual North Georgia Toy Run will take place on Sunday Dec. 2. Coordinated by the Custom Riders Motorcycle Club and Hartman Cycles, the bikers will pull out of Kroger on Cumming Highway in Macedonia at 1 p.m. and make its way to the Cherokee County Moose Lodge on Marietta Highway in Canton. They will then make a 45 minute ride to the Georgia Mountains Hospice in Pickens County. Participants are asked to bring at least two toys to donate. The ride will end at Custom Riders Clubhouse in Jasper. Drawings, raffles and prizes will be handed out during the ride. The ride benefits less fortunate families in Cherokee and Pickens County.
