Reed participated in the the Cherokee County School District’s “Elementary Summer Institute,” a five-day professional development series offered by district in partnership with Scholastic Classroom and Community Group.

Reed garnered 17 boxes of reading and writing materials, specifically chosen for her fourth-grade students, as well as furnishings for a reading area in the classroom.

Lynn O’Hara, account executive with Scholastic, delivered the books and supplies and helped set everything up in Reed’s classroom earlier this month.

The materials represent a standards-based approach to learning and offer opportunities for differentiation and varied instructional deliveries.

This classroom will now serve as a model classroom, and Reed will be sharing her new resources with her fellow fourth-grade teachers, who also attended the Summer Institute, along with the Bascomb's administrative team: Principal Ruth Flowers and Assistant Principals Gordon Swordsma and Lynn Turnell.
