An Etowah High School student has been chosen as a nominee for the United States Senate Youth Program.

Alex C. Johnson, a senior at the school, was chosen as the Cherokee County School District's nominee for the initiative, which provides high school students interested in pursuing a career in public service the chance to spend a week in Washington D.C., watching their national government in action.

Two students will be selected from the pool of school district nominees to represent Georgia in the event.
