ORIGINAL STORY

While the city of Woodstock will move forward with its annual Freedom Run, parade and Freedom Fest, it will pass up the opportunity to top off its July 4th celebration with fireworks.

The city has rescheduled the fireworks display for Labor Day on Monday Sept. 2.

The city will move forward with the parade in downtown Woodstock and Freedom Fest, which will take place at the Park at City Center.

"A judgment call to cancel the events will be made early in the morning based on the weather at that time," the city said in a statement, adding residents will be notified via email when a decision is made.

The annual parade is set to start at 10 a.m. and its participants will travel along Main Street and Rope Mill Road from Highway 92 to Woodstock Elementary School. Woodstock staff will hand out trophies for the Best Holiday Float and the Most Original Float.

After the parade, Freedom Fest at the Park at City Center will kick off at 11 a.m. and will feature food, arts & crafts, gumball guess, cake walk, a free concert with Steve Phillips & Midnight Express, kids activities and more.

Woodstock also encourages residents to frequently check its website's emergency alert area to watch for any updates.
