Bites Nearby: Little River Grill

It's a great spot to sit back and enjoy the lake.

Summer is here and people around town are flocking to the lake. And of course, I am one of them. On a sunny weekend there’s nothing better than taking a boat ride across the lake with good friends with the wind in your hair and the spray of the water cooling you off. It‘s hard to be in a bad mood on the lake. When hunger starts creeping in and you didn’t bring a full cooler, the best place to grab a bite is the Little River Grill. It’s situated right on the water so you can pull up in your boat, or you can park the car. Either way, it’s easy to get to and there's great outdoor seating and entertainment on some weekends.

Overview: Little River Grill is a local restaurant off the beaten path that sits on Lake Allatoona. It offers a great view any night of the week.

Decor: The restaurant is similar to an old wood shack with many different rooms and levels. There’s indoor seating with a full bar in the main room. If you’d like to eat outdoors there’s a patio out back, either screened-in or open-air. The outdoor seating also has a full bar. There’s a stage outdoors for local bands to play on the weekends. There’s also seating upstairs on the patio. It’s a fun place to relax and have a cold beer. At night, the strands of tree lights turn on and the party begins.

Entrees: Their entrees range from spaghetti and meatballs to tacos and all-you-can-eat catfish. The Whale Tails – a basket of fried grouper fingers served with coleslaw, tartar sauce and cajun sauce – are really good. They have daily specials on food and drinks. Even if you aren’t hungry, it’s great to sit down, share a basket of grouper fingers and a pitcher of beer and enjoy the lake.

Prices range from $6 to $12 for entrees.

Service: The Little River Grill is a place to relax and take it easy. On most weekends, service is laid back and not rushed. Most weekends during the summer it’s usually pretty busy so be prepared to wait a few minutes for your food. Just enjoy the atmosphere and have another beer.

Hours: Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to close; and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Location: 6979 Bells Ferry Rd., Canton, GA 30114, 770-345-4444
