Construction Underway For Northside-Cherokee Towne Lake Office Building

The 100,000 square-foot, four story building will open up to patients and tenants in the summer.

Northside Hospital is on track to open its newest facility on the south end of Cherokee County in this summer.

Northside Hospital-Cherokee is in the midst of building its 100,817 square-foot facility, which will be located on the former site of the Madison Pointe commercial and residential development at the corner of I-575 and Towne Lake Parkway.

Mike Patterson, director of operations at Northside Hospital-Cherokee, said the facility is slated to be finished by early July and will be turned over to Northside.

"It's a really beautiful building," he added. "It will definitely give people of Woodstock and Towne Lake better and easier access to health care."

Northside Hospital has not set a date for the ribbon cutting, Spokesperson Katherine Watson added.

Patterson also noted some of the features include a water fountain just outside the main entrance and a fish tank that will greet patients and doctors in the foyer on the ground level.

The company broke ground on the facility in October and it's slated to open by August 2013. It will also contain 509 surface and parking deck spaces.

The new building is located roughly four miles from its Northside/Holly Springs facility on Sixes Road and about 11 miles from the campus of its replacement 84-bed facility along Commerce Boulevard in Canton.

Some of the specialities slated to open up shop in the building include radiology, urology, an ENT practice, pulmonology, family medical practice, an urgent care component, internal medicine, othanology, gastroenterology, allergists, cardiologists and pediatrics.

Between 65 and 70 percent of the space has been already leased by some practices, and Patterson noted Northside will also have a timeshare model that some doctors will be able to take advantage of.

The company purchased the 8-acre tract of land on May 25, 2012. The building is being constructed and will be managed by Duke Realty.

The facility will be called the Northside-Cherokee/Towne Lake Medical Office Building.

The building will have surface parking with 159 slots and a three-story parking deck with an additional 350 parking spaces. In order to help protect the environment, up to 75 percent of the materials generated by the demolition were hauled off to be recycled.

A traffic signal will be installed at the main entrance of the facility and will be activated later this year.

Additionally, the architect will seek to obtain LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s Green Building Certification Institute as an environmentally-friendly facility.
