Downtown Adds 3 Businesses

From a cupcake shop to a fitness center, Downtown Woodstock has a plethora of businesses opening this spring.

Downtown Woodstock is making way for more businesses this year.

With downtown seeing 25 new businesses and 210 new jobs in 2011, it’s off to a good start with three openings and one relocation this spring.

took a stroll down the street to 240 Chambers St. and opened its doors Monday as the first business in the white building next to . With a larger facility, they are able to have more displays and host larger parties.

Pineapple Park also has new hours Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Downtown Development Authority announced Thursday the location that previously housed , 8654 Main St., will be the new home of Cupcakelicious, a cupcake shop that will specialize in cupcakes, small cakes, coffee cakes and ice cream. They will have space to host birthday parties and baking classes. Billy Peppers, DDA president, said the bakery is set to open mid-March.

The is finishing up this week and work on the interior will follow, Peppers said.

pastry students will be working at the shop. Peppers also said the owner, a Cherokee County resident, is looking into the possibility of subleasing commercial kitchen space for interested chefs.

Across the street, another restaurant will be making their debut this spring as well. The yellow and green house that sits in front of will hold Century House Tavern. The owners are known for their other restaurant, Salt, in Roswell. The tavern will have outside café tables and small gardens for fresh herbs and vegetables for their recipes, Peppers said.

With all the new food locations, a training facility is opening soon for residents to work off the extra calories. Next to Cupcakelicious, there will be a personal training and fitness center ran by Jenn Miller, Peppers said. She is known for her step aerobics in Canton.

also just announced they will be moving from their current location at 1105 Parkside Lane to the old Publix shopping center on Towne Lake Parkway.

“Downtown Woodstock is looking fantastic,” board member Jimmy Long said.
