Fresh Flavors Offered in Woodstock

The Farmer's Market will be open every Saturday in Downtown Woodstock.

Woodstock residents have another opportunity to shop local when it comes to fresh produce. Since last Saturday, the Farmer's Market is open and ready for business.

The market is held across the street from the  on Towne Lake Parkway in the parking lot of the City Center building every Saturday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. till Sept. 10.

Now in its third year, the Farmer's Market offers a mixture of local produce, some organic, freshly baked goods, jams, plants, herbs and a variety of natural products, like honey, teas and soaps.

As the summer gets under way, the market will host approximately 20 to 25 vendors along with a variety of market-themed demonstrations such as canning foods, arranging flowers and preparing meals by local restaurant chefs.

“People really seem to like that part of it,” said Kyle Bennett, assistant director of Tourism and Visitor Center Operations.

Bennett, who grew up on a North Georgia farm himself, also shared he enjoys seeing people come to the Downtown Woodstock area to experience all that is offered.

“Our hope is that people find and purchase products at the market and then walk to other businesses where art and antiques are sold.”

Bennett said the city anticipates the market will continue to expand. sponsored by Cherokee Bank.

“We will welcome as many vendors as possible and have the space to do so.”

Hopefully by next summer the market will also feature local musicians along with additional vendors as the City Center building, currently under renovation, will offer more resources, Bennett said.

Vendors interested in participating in the weekly market can complete an application online, at the or by visiting the onsite manager at the market.

To see a listing of vendors selling each week, shoppers may visit the Main Street Woodstock website or the Facebook page.
