Friday Night Live "Summer of Love" in Woodstock

Wear your best hippie attire downtown as Woodstock merchants celebrate the spirit of the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival.

Come downtown this evening dressed as your favorite movie or television character, musician, or other well known figure from 1969 and you could win a $100 Downtown Gift certificate in the Summer of Love costume contest.

Just stop by the Woodstock Visitors Center between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. this Friday and have your picture taken in your costume. Your picture will be used for an online poll we will hold to select the best costume.

You're not the dressing up type? You can still qualify for another $100 Downtown Gift Certificate when you shop during the event. For every $10 you spend at a prticipating downtown business during Friday Night Live you can enter into a drawing for a $100 Downtown Dollars Gift Certificate. Just bring your receipt for any purchase made at a Downtown business during the event to the Visitors Center to enter the contest.

In the spirit of the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival Blue Frog Imports will have five vendors out front in Hippie attire. Inside Blue Frog will have refreshments and a good supply of affordable tie-dye t-shirts for sale.

Here's just a partial list of other deals and things to do tonight.

Canyon Burgers will feature a $2.00 Domestic beer special and out front Sweet Rides will be set up raising money for national and local cancer initiatives. They will have raffles for great items, crafts, face painting, a photospot, and a DJ performing.

Dress Up Botique is offering a very special discount during Friday's Summer of Love! Come in dressed in your best hippie attire, mention the FNL discount to receive 15% off your entire purchase.

Seven Arrows will feature live music in front of their store and will also be hosting Neila Kechego, of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. She will be making and selling Indian frybread and tacos. Seven Arrows will also have her beadwork for sale.

Brenda's House of Flowers will also have live music in front of their store.

The Wright Stuff Collectables will enter everyone that comes in the store in their hippie outfit in a raffle for a gift certificate at the store.

Threads, a new store located at 500 Chambers Street, is giving away FREE laser finger beams, glowing bouncy balls and other fun stuff to their Facebook Friends. "LIKE" their page to get free stuff at Friday Night Live.

Gossip Salon will be hosting a Zumba class during the event from 8:15pm-9:15pm. Registration for the class is from 7pm to 8pm and is $5. Gossip Salon will also have raffles, refreshments, and prizes during Friday Night Live.

SALON GLOSS will be hosting a sidewalk party with refreshments, music, pink ribbon glitter tattoos and pink colored hair extensions to show support for SWEET RIDES 24 HOURS OF BOOTY CANCER BENEFIT. As a sponsor of this event, Salon Gloss will be donating a generous portion of all proceeds to this extremely worthy cause that will benefit both local and national cancer initiatives. Come show your support for Downtown Woodstock and for the cancer community! And to help get our party started, we will also be hosting HIGHLANDER TRAINER with "FREE" KICKBOXING/BOOTCAMP/DANCE JAM CLASSES WITH ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES AND HIGH ENERGY MUSIC RIGHT OUTSIDE! WAIT, THERE'S MORE>>>>Owners Tim Timmons and Nicolie Griffin are giving all class students a certificate for a COMPLIMENTARY HAIRCUT!

Cupcakealicious will feature live music in front of their store.

Copper Coin Coffee will feature live music by Tripp Spears from 8pm to 10pm

Maxwell's Cigar Bar is offering anyone that comes in Friday evening dressed like an artist that played in the Woodstock festival gets a free 16 ounce PBR.

The Magnolia Thomas Restaurant will feature the following specials during the event:

  • "Tree Hugged Halibut"- Gently roasted halibut, hugged in rosemary sprigs and shaved prosciutto, drizzled orange butter, served with hippie potatoes and grilled broccolini.
  • "Free Love Free Range Chicken"-Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme rubbed grilled chicken breast, organic broccolini, wild shroomin' creamed risotto.
  • Toasted Granola Pineapple Upsidedown Cake-bourbon crème anglaise, vanilla bean ice cream.

There will be a Teen Arts Night sponsored by Elm Street Arts.

Bring your guitar, your karaoke cd, your poetry, your artwork, your short stories to share with other creative, arts minded teens. $5 cash at the door provides a slice of pizza and a soda at intermission.
