Realizing Cherokee County was sorely lacking in events facility space, Raymond Oliver decided it was about time those of us in the northwest metro area had an elegant place to go for special gatherings - without having to trek inside the perimeter. After months of prep work, Oliver will officially debut Venue 92 with a grand opening gala on Feb. 22.
He tells Patch a little of what got him to this point below:
Patch: Tell us about the concept for Venue 92 and how you came up with it?
Oliver: My wife has owned and operated Stylish Stems Floral Designs for the past 10 years and has visited dozens of venues all over the Metro Atlanta area. She has always said that Cherokee County doesn't have a lot of options when it comes to event spaces. When we stumbled upon the commercial property where Venue 92 now exists, we knew that it would be the perfect space to accomodate special events of all sizes. We wanted the name to be memorable and resonate with the building's location, which resides off of Highway 92, thus Venue 92 was born!
P: What makes the space ideal for the concept?
O: Venue 92 is a modern space with a loft-like feel. It is very open with multiple options for hosting events of any type. With 9,600 square feet of indoor space and a huge covered terrace off the first floor, there are many different arrangements for tables and event layout. We like to say that it has the upscale elegance of many modern spaces in downtown Atlanta, but it's outside the perimeter in Woodstock!
P: What kinds of events and activities do you envision at Venue 92?
O: While wedding ceremonies and receptions are what we feel will be hosted at Venue 92 most often, we have already had a ton of interest in the space for anniversary celebrations, Bar Mitzvahs and Sweet 16 parties. We also think the space would work well for corporate events, bridal showers, baby showers, rehearsal dinners, graduations, vow renewals and any other special celebrations.
P: Will you have outside caters and vendors come in, or is the venue a one-stop-shop?
O: We want to allow our clients to customize their event just how they want it, so while we have a list of our preferred vendors, outside vendors are welcome. We have a few clients that would like for us to coordinate an "all-inclusive" package, so we are able to be a one-stop-shop if needed, as well.
P: If someone wanted to host an event at the location, walk us through the process for how they could throw the perfect party at Venue 92?
O: After choosing Venue 92 for their event, we would help our client plan out their timeline and help with tasks such as selecting vendors, selecting linens, beverage selections and we even have an on-site coordinator who can make sure everything goes according to plan. We wanted to provide enhancements to the space that many other facilities charge extra for. Some of these extras include: gorgeous Silver Chiavari Chairs, Custom Colored Up-lighting, Custom Gobo Projection, Custom slideshow on our flat screen monitor and use of our "Something Blue" Room, which is an elegantly appointed Bridal Dressing Room. After all of the details are planned, we want our clients to arrive at the event and simply enjoy everything Venue 92 has to offer.
P: Have you gotten any kind of feedback from the local community about the idea; what have you heard?
O: Everyone we talk to is excited about the idea of having a special events facility in Woodstock. We have been surprised at the outpouring of support from our neighboring businesses and the city of Woodstock. We are also thrilled to be able to contribute to the growth that Woodstock is undergoing!
