Woodstock Looking for Qualified Firefighters

The Woodstock Fire Department has opened the application process for those looking to join its ranks.

The city of Woodstock is putting out a call for qualified residents to test for positions in its Fire Department. 

The positions the agency is seeking candidates for include: Firefighter I EMT I/ Firefighter II EMT I/ Firefighter I Paramedic/ Firefighter II Paramedic.

All positions "are required to protect life and property" by performing one or more of the following: fire fighting, providing emergency aid, basic life support, handling hazardous materials and fire prevention. All positions are also responsible for maintaining one or more of the following: fire, emergency and rescue equipment, apparatus and facilities.

The minimum requirements for Firefighter I EMT and Firefighter II EMT: high school diploma or GED; a firefighter training certificate (Module 1 Georgia Fire Certificate or NPQ1) at the time of appointment; completion of a recognized fire recruit training academy or equivalent courses; EMT Intermediate (EMT I) certification; no felony convictions in the last 10 years; 21 years or older at the time of employment; valid state drivers license without record of suspension or revocation in any state; and the ability to meet and maintain the National Fire Protection Association and Occupational Safety and Health Administration medical and physical fitness requirements. Applicants must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Special requirements include: must be able to pass the department’s written exam and physical agility test and have the ability to read and write the English language.

After successful completion of the steps during the entrance process, each candidate may be chosen for positions as they come available. The entrance list for positions will remain in effect for 12 months. 

All interested applicants must submit a completed application online at http://www.woodstockga.gov/index.aspx?nid=644. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. April 25.
