Woodstock Mom, Daughter Open Shop

What began as a hobby for a Woodstock mom and daughter takes center stage at Town Center at Cobb in Kennesaw. About a year ago, Callie Richardson and her mom Kim started making gourmet cupcakes for family and friends in their kitchen at home. Word traveled fast and within a few months the pair was taking orders from throughout metro Atlanta. 

Flattered and honored with their success and positive feedback, the Richardsons are now opening a retail outlet in the Town Center at Cobb food court. Callie’s Cupcakes and Creations will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. The store will specialize in fresh, delicious gourmet cupcakes and cake pops, as well as other specialty desserts, a variety of cheesecakes, seasonal offerings and daily specials.

Cupcakes come in vanilla, chocolate lava, mocha, coconut, Guinness, banana split, cookies and cream, Callie’s signature strawberry and a variety of other specialty and seasonal favorites.

Callie, a graduate of , is now a junior at . She will continue to pursue a degree in education while operating her new business. 

“This is a dream come true for me,” Callie explained. “I never expected to have my own business at this stage in life, but with encouragement and support from my family, friends and customers, it just seemed like a great time to try. We prayed about it and were blown away with how God opened doors and brought others in to help.”

Offering a wide variety of flavors and colors, the Richardsons say their cupcakes and cake pops are perfect for any occasion, from weddings and bar mitzvahs to birthday parties and holidays, like Thanksgiving and Christmas. They have also proven to be popular corporate gifts for businesses looking to honor their employees in a tasty and unique way, or for parents wishing to send friendly and sweet reminders of home to their children attending area colleges and universities.

“Of course now, every day can be a special occasion with our store at Town Center,” Callie explained. “We hope people will come see us often, get some treats for themselves, and then share the love with others. They really make a great treat any day.”
