Woodstock Sports Store To Close

LKT Sports Art plans to close its doors on Main Street at the end of the month after 14 years in business.

After nearly 15 years in business, a long-time downtown Woodstock business will soon close its doors.

LKT Sports Art, located at 8634 Main Street, will close at the end of the month "due to the uncertainty of our lease," according to a message on its Facebook page.

Owners Tracy and Samantha Wood had been leasing the space from Elizabeth Johnston, who passed way in December. The store opened in August 2000.

"Thanks for the memories," Tracy Wood wrote. "Our goal when we opened was to have (a) variety (of) unique items at a fair price and most of all, good old fashioned service. We hoped we achieved that. Our four kids grew up in the store. It was a family affair and we can always cherish that. Thanks for 14 years."

Wood added he and his wife were grateful to the late Johnston, who was a "great lady and supporter of downtown Woodstock," for "renting to us on a handshake" in August 2000.

LKT features a slew of college sports items such as framed pictures and prints, banners, tumblers, car tags, license plate holders, decals and autographed memorabilia. The store is in the midst of a clearance sale, and all in-stock items are between 25 and 50 percent off.
