School Supply Donations Needed for Local Group

Give a Kid a Chance is gearing up for the next school year by asking for donations of backpacks, school supplies, as well as garage sale items and clothing.

School might be just about to let out but a local charitable group needs your help in gathering backpacks filled with school supplies. Summer is short and that is why Give a Kid a Chance desperately needs your help once again. Last year, they served approximately 3,000 low income children here in Cherokee County.

There are lots of ways you can help. First, they are hosting a garage sale on June 23rd and are in need of donated items for that sale. Items can be dropped off to their warehouse at 320 Adam Jenkins Memorial Drive in Canton (off exit 14) every Sunday in June between 2:00-3:00. Or, you can email rebelsatl@gmail.com for more information. Proceeds from this sale go to purchase new socks and underwear for the children.

Another way you can help is by organizing a backpack and school supply drive with your local group. "Churches have been some of our biggest supporters," says Cheryl Ruffer, President of Give a Kid a Chance. A full list of supplies and others needed items can be found on this link. The event is July 21st so please collect items soon!

Volunteers are also needed for the big event on July 21st. This year it is being held at two locations: Hillside UMC and First Baptist Church of Canton. Volunteers are needed for everything from set-up and cleanup, to hair stylists and medical professionals and more. Fill out the form to get started.

If you happen to be one of those families in need or know of a child who is, they can register either at their school, through MUST Ministries, or through this link.
